Slack notifications
Once your account is connected, Slack works like any other notification channel in Bordio — next to email, mobile push and browser alerts. You decide event by event what reaches you there.
Turning notifications on
Section titled “Turning notifications on”Slack is off by default in every group. Connecting your account doesn’t start a stream of messages; nothing arrives until you switch something on.
- Open Profile settings → Notifications.
- Pick the organization at the top — settings are kept per organization.
- Find the Slack column and tick the events you want.
Above the table you’ll see which Slack workspace the messages go to. That matters when your Bordio organization and your Slack workspace have similar names, or when you’re in several of them.
What you can be notified about
Section titled “What you can be notified about”Everything the other channels cover, Slack covers too.
Task notifications
| Event | Typical reason you’d want it |
|---|---|
| New task created | You follow the project and want to see work appear |
| Task assigned or reassigned | It’s now yours |
| Task updated | The due date, status or fields changed |
| Task completed | Work you follow is done |
| Task deleted | Something you follow disappeared |
| Task is overdue | The deadline has passed |
| New chat message | A comment, or someone mentioning you |
Event notifications
| Event | Typical reason you’d want it |
|---|---|
| I’m invited to an event | A meeting was put in your calendar |
| Event updated | The time or place moved |
| Event deleted | The meeting is off |
| Someone responded to my invite | An attendee accepted or declined |
| Event is about to start | The reminder you set |
Each event can be narrowed down by your role — assignee, reporter, follower, organizer, participant, or “any message in tasks I follow”. A row reaches you only if one of your ticked roles matches.
How messages look
Section titled “How messages look”A Slack notification is a short card: what happened, who did it, the task or meeting title, and a button that opens it in Bordio. Task cards also offer Complete, so a “task assigned to you” message can be closed without opening anything.
Details are deliberately not spelled out in the message. Bordio tells you that something changed and lets you go look, instead of pasting field-by-field diffs into your DMs.
Things worth knowing
Section titled “Things worth knowing”You won’t get the same message twice. If the same event is processed more than once, only one message is sent. A meeting reminder is the exception by design: if the meeting moves, the reminder fires again for the new time.
Unfollowing wins over settings. If you’ve stopped following a task, its notifications don’t reach you, whatever the Slack column says.
One message per event, even in several Slack workspaces. If your organization has more than one Slack workspace connected and you’re connected in several of them, the message arrives once.
Turning Slack off doesn’t touch other channels. Email, push and the in-app bell keep working to their own settings. The bell can’t be turned off at all — it’s your activity feed, not a mailing list.
When messages stop
Section titled “When messages stop”Personal Slack messages stop when:
- you disconnect your account (
/bordio disconnect, or from Apps with access to Bordio in Bordio); - an admin disconnects the integration, or the app is removed from Slack;
- your organization moves to a plan without integrations;
- your connection is paused by Bordio support — the connection is kept, so nothing needs to be set up again once it’s lifted.
In every case the other channels carry on. See Troubleshooting if messages stopped and you don’t know which of these happened.
